SURGICAL CORRECTION OF AORTIC COARCTATION IN DIFFERENT AGE GROUPS
Abstract
Coarctation of the aorta (CoA) is a congenital heart defect that occurs when a section of the aorta, the main artery that carries blood from the heart to the rest of the body, becomes narrow. CoA requires prompt correction to prevent significant morbidity and mortality. While surgical intervention is the standard treatment for this condition, the optimal timing for intervention, particularly regarding age, remains controversial.
