Paremiological dictionaries, which catalog proverbs and their meanings, serve as valuable resources for understanding both language and culture. In the context of the English language, these dictionaries provide insights into the social, moral, and historical values embedded in proverbs. This literature review explores the linguocultural peculiarities of English paremiological dictionaries, examining how proverbs not only reflect the linguistic structures of the language but also the cultural norms, beliefs, and worldviews of English-speaking communities. Through an analysis of various studies, this paper highlights the role of proverbs in conveying concepts such as individualism, pragmatism, and personal responsibility, which are prevalent in English-speaking cultures.
