This article examines the process of term formation in the Uzbek language and its close relation to terminological homonymy. It analyzes how commonly used lexical units become specialized in various scientific fields, as well as how new terms emerge through word formation, translation, and borrowing. The study identifies full, partial, and contextual terminological homonyms and describes their structural and semantic characteristics. Special attention is given to the role of normative lexicography in regulating terminology and preventing ambiguity. The article concludes that the standardization of homonymous terms is essential to ensure accuracy and efficiency in scientific communication.
