Abstract

Modern professional sport has become a complex social institution directly connected with economic circulation, the labor market, and contractual-legal relations. In team sports such as football, basketball, volleyball, and hockey, the practice of an athlete’s temporary move from one club to another is widely used as a means of improving sporting results, providing young athletes with playing practice, organizing a club’s transfer policy flexibly, and preserving the athlete’s market value. Although FIFA and other international sports organizations recognize the mechanism of temporarily assigning a professional athlete to another club, national legal systems interpret the legal nature of this institution in different ways[1].
